For the first time in weeks, the DH and I had a day off together in which we were not snowed in.

We went in to Stillwater to run a couple of necessary errands, but also to have some fun. We found a cool resale shop, where I found several neat craft magazines and some old copies of "Sheet Music" magazine!

I went to Hobby Lobby, and picked up some fun things-- I've made a Valentine's Day wreath, and may take a picture to post when I get home from work this afternoon.

Best of all was the library. I went to the Help Desk to check on the status of the library's new e-book program, which is really cool! I talked for a while with the sweet little old man who runs the Help Desk, and mentioned fanfic. He'd never heard of it, so I showed him SoA. Then I went off to look for some books. Later when I came back by from getting three tote bags full to check out, he spoke to me, and told me he'd read one of my stories and enjoyed it.

He also asked me if I thought there was any fan fiction available for "Gunsmoke". I told him there probably was, LOL!

Oookaay! Last night the DH told me that they want to try changing his shift from 11am to 11pm to 12noon to 12midnight. (The lady who came on board with him has quit, and the new person prefers 12 to 12, so they want both of them on the same shift.) That means that instead of having two hours to kill till he gets home, I have three. I have already done all the laundry, cleaned the bathroom, the kitchen and the stove, straightened my desk and balanced the checkbook (the bank and I disagree over $2.59 and I can't find where I messed up.). Earlier I did a bunch of modly stuff at [livejournal.com profile] lotr_community and [livejournal.com profile] lotrgficbigbang. I went to the grocery store and the pharmacy. I read some fic. I knitted. I played some stupid computer games. There is nothing worth watching on TV. So, I guess I will do that meme that's going around tonight...Read more... )

Time Off

Yay! As of today, I'm off work for a week! While I'm hoping to use the time to finish some household things I just haven't had the time for, I also hope to get some writing in and maybe catch up on listening to [livejournal.com profile] read_lotr_aloud and get a few crafty things done too.

As well, I have to practice the piano. My sweet DH, who always thinks I'm better at things than I am has volunteered me to play at a nursing home on Tuesday. It's only three hymns, but heavens, I'm not a very good player at all. Lucky for me I found an old "baby" hymn book from back when I was taking lessons almost half a century ago. So cross your fingers for me. Perhaps the dear old people will be too hard of hearing to notice how terrible I am.

Today we are going to be doing a bit of running errands, combined with a little fun.

I'm finally getting the rest of my LJ notifications for comments from the last two days!

Hope everyone is going to have a lovely weekend!

Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

Well, I had a very nice belated birthday celebration. The DH ordered something for me from my Amazon wish list--The Complete Recordings Soundtrack for RotK! (I already had FotR and TT, but when he was going to get RotK for me before it was out of stock.) At last I will have them all!

...turned out OK after all!

I was in serious doubt when my internet was down this morning! But I called cable, and after we did all the usual over-the-phone voodoo, and none of it worked they said they'd send out a tech. He couldn't get here until mid-afternoon, so I worked on some sewing and some fic and some housework until then. I got a lot done, and will likely be posting another chapter of R2E tomorrow. I also got a call from [livejournal.com profile] danae_b, and she seemed to be feeling a bit better.

One thing disappointed me, I wanted to do some MEFA reviews, and couldn't do that today.

But I had a lot of flist to catch up on when he finally got me working again.

It's been a very quiet and lazy Sunday for the two of us.

We woke up extra early, thanks to the dogs, who decided to have a fight at 5:55AM. So we decided to go to the early service at church. We'd never been to the early service before--it was much more informal and laid back. They had it in the church parlor instead of in the sanctuary.

We came home with all sorts of good intentions for mowing lawns, working in the garden, and so on, but instead, I've been on the computer most of the day, and the DH has been reading, watching TV and resting his eyeballs, LOL!

At any rate, I've got all my MEFA nominations done! (By the way--to anyone who still wants to nominate anyone, I think there's still an hour or so left.) And I've been busily getting things ready for tomorrow's Father's Day Challenge stories to appear at [livejournal.com profile] lotr_community. I know that some of you still have stories to finish--don't worry, we'll accept late entries!

I hope everyone's had a nice day!
