What fun! The battles look quite exciting and I love the image of the Court in that room. Looks just like my old high school cafeteria.

The fighting was very good--five fighters--four lords, one lady. Much chivalry and honor displayed.

We use a particular community center for this event each year. Thank goodness it did not suffer much damage in the hurricane.

Thanks! That dress is one of my oldest and most comfortable pieces of garb; I used a decidedly non-period method of embroidery for the trim, not knowing any better at the time. But I still love it.

Barony of Seleone, Kingdom of Gleann Abhann (formerly Western Meridies) Our group mundanely is the coastal and adjacent counties of South Mississippi. This was our first event since the hurricane.

Oh what wonderfull trees you have there. do you know what species of pine those are are? (I'm not well versed with southern forests)

My lady has a duct tape dummy. her mother made it when she visited a few months back.

Always a joy to see gentles really enjoying themselves. I really should start playing again.

Had to go back up and look. All the pines are these kind of long-needled things that grow all over the Southern US--they are often cultivated for paper and stuff. Looks like a live oak in one of the shots. We lost so very many trees in the storm. We lost 14 from our yard alone--no pines, fortunately, but all our mature trees except two.

They really are a very handy thing to have. Fitting doubles are expensive to buy, and rarely actually show the shape of one's body.

I'd would guess that they are probably loblolly. So very sorry for the loss of those beautiful trees you had in your yard, until I saw the pics you posted, I had not really seen the damage caused by the storm. Hope Master Gamgee visits soon.

Loblolly. Yes, I think you are right.

Several of my hobbity friends on LJ banded together to send me some trees--we are just waiting until the fence repairs are completed to start planting them. So I guess Sam rather inspired them. Of course, without Galadriel's dust, they will take years to grow as large as those they are replacing.

Thank you. That dress is one of my oldest and most comfortable; the cloak I finished just before Christmas, using the burnoose pattern from The Folkwear Book of Ethnic Clothing.

Thanks! The cloak was really easy to make, though it had taken me a good long while to find just the right fabric. I was glad to finally get to wear the brooch!
