Hi all!

I'm on the computer in the lobby of the Best Western motel in Stroud, Oklahoma. We are supposed to have free wireless internet in our room, but the wireless apparently won't work on the side of the building where our room is.

We got in Sunday afternoon (we were late getting started Saturday, and ended up stopped for the night in Shreveport, which had a *horrible* Day's Inn) and just had time to drive around Cushing for a little bit, before going to have supper.

Today the DH had to go to the hospital to do all that pre-employment stuff necessary when working in the healthcare field--criminal background check, pee in a cup, chest x-ray, etc. Then we met a realtor and looked at houses.

We found two, one way below our budget, and one right at the very top of our budget, that we like. The first one is too small--we will have to do some remodeling and additions to make it big enough. The second one is plenty big enough, and it's gorgeous, though it will need a good deal of cosmetic upgrades--mostly paint and stuff like that. Now we have to figure out the financing. We don't have any nest egg for earnest money, and we won't have a down until our house sells--and sellers don't like contingency clauses. 8-(

We've got a couple of gift coupons for an Italian restaurant the hospital gave to the DH, so we'll be going out to supper there in a couple of hours.

Anyway, tomorrow we have to go into Oklahoma City about a couple of things, and then we will be heading home. I expect it will be some time late Wednesday before we get back home.

I'm feeling marginally better about the move since I've seen the town; and I have to admit, I *really* like that second house. But of course, there's no saying we'd be able to get it yet.

Anyway, I skimmed my flist, but I'll wait till I get home to make comments! Hope I haven't missed anything important.

((((hugs))))

It's so wonderful to hear from you!

I know that it's very daunting to be confronted with so much change in such a short period of time. But we're right here, dear one, loving and supporting you.

Mmmm, Italian food... :D

*hugs and cuddles*

Moving is definitely huge, but it sounds like you've hit the point of having a little fun. Or at least relaxing and exploring. I'll send good house-finding vibes in your general direction...

HUGS and have a happy All Hallow's Eve in Oklahoma. :)

Glad you're feeling better about the whole thing. Hope you can get the house you like. I know you will, if it is meant to be.

Okay, where's Stoud? Is it a suburb of Oklahoma City? Enquiring minds want to know.:)

Take care. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

GT.

That house sounds very promising - and knowing what you're heading to always makes the change feel better.

You're moving! I've been out of the loop for a while and didn't have a clue.

You're moving! To Oklahoma! I live in North Texas and my hubby's family lives in Oklahoma. Moving is a pain and it's a little scary, too. But, I think you'll learn to like Oklahoma.

Welcome to Oklahoma

How did I miss the fact that you're moving to Oklahoma? I live in Oklahoma City, so I guess that qualifies me to welcome you to Oklahoma. You've picked a good time to move here. We're celebrating our statehood Centennial starting this month, and there's a lot of stuff planned for the next year. And Stroud is a very nice town. I used to go there often when the outlet mall was open, but it was destroyed in a massive tornado a few years ago. But you're about halfway between OKC and Tulsa so you can take advantage of everything that happens in both cities. Anyway, welcome to the state and I hope you enjoy it here.

I am happy to hear that you have a good feeling about the town. I think you can plan the cosmetic upgrades in stages to spread the costs and activities.. and I hope that everything will go smoothly with the buyers of your house.
