I'm on the computer in the lobby of the Best Western motel in Stroud, Oklahoma. We are supposed to have free wireless internet in our room, but the wireless apparently won't work on the side of the building where our room is.
We got in Sunday afternoon (we were late getting started Saturday, and ended up stopped for the night in Shreveport, which had a *horrible* Day's Inn) and just had time to drive around Cushing for a little bit, before going to have supper.
Today the DH had to go to the hospital to do all that pre-employment stuff necessary when working in the healthcare field--criminal background check, pee in a cup, chest x-ray, etc. Then we met a realtor and looked at houses.
We found two, one way below our budget, and one right at the very top of our budget, that we like. The first one is too small--we will have to do some remodeling and additions to make it big enough. The second one is plenty big enough, and it's gorgeous, though it will need a good deal of cosmetic upgrades--mostly paint and stuff like that. Now we have to figure out the financing. We don't have any nest egg for earnest money, and we won't have a down until our house sells--and sellers don't like contingency clauses. 8-(
We've got a couple of gift coupons for an Italian restaurant the hospital gave to the DH, so we'll be going out to supper there in a couple of hours.
Anyway, tomorrow we have to go into Oklahoma City about a couple of things, and then we will be heading home. I expect it will be some time late Wednesday before we get back home.
I'm feeling marginally better about the move since I've seen the town; and I have to admit, I *really* like that second house. But of course, there's no saying we'd be able to get it yet.
Anyway, I skimmed my flist, but I'll wait till I get home to make comments! Hope I haven't missed anything important.
((((hugs))))

Date: 2006-10-31 11:29 am (UTC)You're moving! To Oklahoma! I live in North Texas and my hubby's family lives in Oklahoma. Moving is a pain and it's a little scary, too. But, I think you'll learn to like Oklahoma.
Welcome to Oklahoma
