We still haven't found it this morning, so that's what he's going to do. Problem is, we're not sure how quickly that can be done. And he's lost his car keys, too. He had to borrow mine this morning.

Awww, I'm sorry. That's very unpleasant.

Is it that you had it and now can't find it? Or did it not get to you at all?

I always ask my kids... (and myself when I lose things)"Where did I have it last?" What did I do right about the time I know I had it?" "Where might I have carried it/set it down/stashed it?" "Could anyone have moved it/taken it?" Then look all those places... and then everywhere else it could even possibly be. Then perhaps try what Shirebound suggested.

Yeah, that's pretty much the procedure we followed. Several times over. He's convinced it accidentally got thrown out with the junk mail, and he won't let me dig in the garbage. *sigh*

So he's going to ask them to issue a new one.

Oh... and now the keys have gone missing! I hate days/weeks like that! It really does seem like gremlins sometimes, doesn't it? Though we usually blame it on leprachauns, being Irish and all, hehehe.

Pants pockets, jacket pockets, under the seats of the car, in between the car seats, your purse, in a drawer of a desk, under the desk blotter if you have one, inside your checkbook with a made out deposit slip so that you won't forget to deposit it, with your mail in a stack of bills to be paid, his wallet, maybe he left it at work in a locker or desk there, go through the trash too. I have found my pay check in most of those locations at one time or another. I hope you find it!

Yes, we've looked in almost all those places, except we *know* he brought it home, so it's not at work. And he has a *thing* about looking in the trash. He won't do it, or let me. (I think it must be a nursy thing, all those germs and stuff.)

So he's going to ask for a new one. I just hope it doesn't involve too much red tape or take too much time.

I had to have a second check cut where I work because they under-paid me by thirty hours and it only took the folks at my job three days to reissue it. Hopefully you won't have to wait any longer than that since it is his entire pay check. They should realize that most folks can't do without for very long. I know I couldn't!

Well, they stopped payment on the other one, and he'll be able to get the new one tomorrow, thank goodness!

And he found his keys: hanging out of the lock at the back of the car. He didn't find them until *after* he got to work!

Ai! *hugs* Stop and go do something else for twenty minutes. Then try looking for it once more. Sometimes you "can't see for looking" and taking time out means, miraculously, it seems to appear in exactly the place you knew it would be all along and definitely seemed NOT to be when you were looking for it in a state of frenzy.

We did stop for a while and have supper, and then tried looking again. Looks like he will have to ask for a new one--I hope that's not going to be too complicated. *sigh*

And of course, it *will* turn up, as soon as he *gets* a new one, and that one's no good anymore. That's how the gremlins work.

Well, check will be re-issued, and keys are now found. But it made for a rather tense day, especially on top of the other stuff.

He had not signed up for direct deposit, because there would have some slight delay. He has *now*, but it won't kick in until the following pay period.

Ugh! Sorry about this! (And I know it can take a little while at a new job before you can get set up for direct deposit, but it's really worth it. For one thing, you don't have to figure out when to fit getting to the bank into your schedule!)
