And so I was telling everyone a few weeks ago about my upside down tomatoes. Anyway, I've been having some of the cherry tomatoes for a while, but two days ago, my first Early Girl ripened...

Mmmm, fresh, homegrown tomatoes. NOTHING like 'em!

I used to eat a whole tomato as a snack, and I'd lightly sprinkle it with salt first. :)

Mmm...

The next morning, my other one was getting ripe, and I had to pick it quickly to keep it away from a mockingbird!

It was lovely, sprinkled with a tiny bit of feta cheese and some finely minced fresh basil also out of my garden!

Ah, this brings back such fond memories of the big garden we used to have when my Granny was alive! We did tons of canning and she made all kinds of goodies like homemade bread, biscuits and apple jelly. Sigh....

Go to the farmer's market or a roadside stand--you'll never find the really good and juicy ones in the supermarket...

And mmmmmmmm for fresh homegrown tomatoes *eyes mockingbird*. My favorite way to eat them is sliced on toast with cucumbers and red onion (and yes, a little salt) as a sandwich. YUMMMMMMMY!!
