Bummer

Got home to find a message on my machine from one of my first cousins. Another cousin (her older sister) passed away this morning. Not so jolly. Try to call her back, and get *her* machine. Went out for supper, and of course, she had left another message for me, time of viewing, funeral, etc. And asking me to break the news to my mother, sister and brother.

We went to the nursing home to tell my mother, and I was relieved at how she took it. Not so hard as I had feared. Talked to my sister, but have not gotten hold of my brother yet.

DH is going to try and take off Tues. so we can go to the funeral. Means getting up about 3AM to head out for the long drive to Florida, and then come right back after the funeral, so he can work the next day. *whoosh* Not looking forward to that.

I was fond of this cousin, but not especially close. However, I have always been very close to the cousin who called, and to their younger sister, so I am going to the funeral (if DH can get the day off) for their sakes' mostly.

I hate funerals.

I`m sorry that you lost your cousin (and that I don`t know how to say condolances in English).

Funerals aren`t fun, no, but go and be there for your other cousins and maybe it will turn out to a good a day as those days can anwyay.

I am so incredibly sorry to hear that. What a difficult day it must have been for you. Breaking such news sounds almost unbearable since you are at loss as well. You and your family are in my thoughts. {{{Barbara}}}

Yes, I was not surprised to hear of my cousin's passing; she's been very ill for a very long time, but it was hard to have to tell my Mom and my sister. I *still* haven't been able to get hold of my brother.

So sorry to hear this. And I often find that I go to funerals for some reason other than a closeness to the person who has died. Someone once said that funerals are more for those left behind and I do believe that is often the case. Safe trip.

Really, that is the main thing for funerals--to support the survivors.
I'm dreading the ride over and back, but it's going to be worse for my DH. He won't hear of my going alone, though.
