Memorial Day
May. 26th, 2008 05:11 pmThis quotation seems apt for today.
"But when dark things come from the houseless hills, or creep from sunless woods, they fly from us. What roads would any dare to tread, what safety would there be in quiet lands, or in the homes of simple men at night, if the Dunedain were asleep, or were all gone into the grave?"
(Aragorn son of Arathorn, FotR, Book II, Chapter II, "The Council of Elrond")

Actually, though, the daytime weather was rather pleasant, if just a bit muggy. The storms didn't go on a tear until nighttime.

Date: 2008-05-27 05:32 pm (UTC)Tolkien had an amazing way with words, didn't he? And to quote "National Treasure":
"People don't talk like that any more."
"I know, but they think that way."
