A dribble for yesterday.

I was trying to process my feelings about yesterday, and came up with this dribble:

A Golden Day

I was not there. I wasn’t shivering in the cold.
I didn’t walk hours to stand a mile away.
I wasn’t shoulder to shoulder with strangers,
exchanging stories of a wild, hurried journey.
but I laughed when they laughed,
I cried when they cried.
I listened in awe
to the dawn
of new
Hope.

Thank you! I could have said much more, I suppose, but it wouldn't fit into a dribble! It was such an awesome day.

You know, usually the big historical days that everyone gathers around the TV, and remembers what they were doing at the time, are bad things: Kennedy assasinated, Challenger blowing up, 9/11, Katrina.

I think the last *GOOD* thing like that was the moon-landing, 40 years or so ago.

Until yesterday.

You know, I hadn't thought of that but you're right. We haven't had a really big event that has been everyone watch because they were happy in ages.

It's a good feeling and it's a shame it doesn't happen more often.

Wow! That is so neat. I just read it aloud to a friend at work, who doesn't know the "other" meaning of it, and she really liked it, too.

We can't call this the Fouth Age, but it must be a new age beginning.:)

It was a wonderful moment. Like I said to GW, it seems that the last *GOOD* thing that had everyone glued to their TV (as opposed to bad things, of which there have been a number) was the moon-landing.

wow. That's a really good point. You're right. We haven't had a lot of reason to be glued to our t.v.s as a nation (and world) for a good, long time!

I know. I mean, lots of bad things: Kennedy's assasination, MLK's assasination, Challenger blowing up, the OK City bombing, 9/11, Hurricane Katrina...

But *good* things? *sigh* There is quite an imbalance.
