Time Off

Yay! As of today, I'm off work for a week! While I'm hoping to use the time to finish some household things I just haven't had the time for, I also hope to get some writing in and maybe catch up on listening to read_lotr_aloud and get a few crafty things done too.

As well, I have to practice the piano. My sweet DH, who always thinks I'm better at things than I am has volunteered me to play at a nursing home on Tuesday. It's only three hymns, but heavens, I'm not a very good player at all. Lucky for me I found an old "baby" hymn book from back when I was taking lessons almost half a century ago. So cross your fingers for me. Perhaps the dear old people will be too hard of hearing to notice how terrible I am.

Today we are going to be doing a bit of running errands, combined with a little fun.

Oh gosh, playing piano for a nursing home--that brings back memories of when I played guitar and sang hymns at one with a ministry group during college. I still remember one little old lady who would sit in her wheelchair in the front row, pushed there by nurses no doubt, and the entire time, moan at the top of her lungs, glare, and then say, "I wish you'd just shut up!!!" LOL Hopefully your old folks will be a bit more polite and appreciative!
