Four Years Ago Today
Aug. 29th, 2009 07:20 am
We were among the lucky ones. We weren't "slabbed" (nothing left of the home except the slab), like some of the people we knew. Our house only flooded a little bit-- we weren't driven into the attic, like other people we knew. Our roof was intact, and so were we.
But we lost a way of life, and it will never be the same.
If you are new to my flist, you may never have seen My Hurricane Katrina Diary, or the pictures I posted when we once again had power and computer service.Katrina Pictures here and Here.
There are many people still trying to pull their lives together on the Coast.
Don't let them be forgotten.

The ficlet I wrote that day helped me stay calm for all of you. I can't believe it's been four years already.

Date: 2009-09-06 04:11 am (UTC)I'm so glad you're in a hurricane-less area now. As for us, I think we'll luck out down here and few storms will come into the Gulf this year. It's an El Nino season, which means they tend to turn out toward the East coast.
