A busy weekend!

Mother's Day weekend was a very busy one for me!

Lots of stuff, including some house and garden pics behind the cut.

This week was payday, and between the lawyer's fee and the fact that our lawn mower had finally given up the ghost, it didn't look like we'd be doing much. BUT

-My son paid us $100 of some money he owes us. We'd told him to take his time and pay when he could-- but this was definitely a good time for him to do so.
-We got a completely unexpected refund check for $130 in the mail. It was from our old cellular provider when we still lived in Mississippi! We had no idea that they owed us a refund!

I spent a lot of my online time Friday and at various points in the weekend keeping tabs on the wank about fanfiction-- it's not the kind of thing I normally do, but this particular time, it pushed a few of my buttons. So I didn't get any stories uploaded at MPTT. *sigh*

I also did some rock-painting Friday. I finished two floral rocks, but I'm not done with the hobbit-house yet.

OTOH, Saturday morning there was a yard sale a block down from us! I strolled down there while the DH was on the phone with his sister, not really expecting much--

but I found a beautiful platter and pitcher!

This rose bush was huge and gorgeous our first year here. The second year, it got sqaushed flat by contractors, and is only beginning to come back.</td>

	Yard sale find A platter and pitcher-- only $8!
	Top of kitchen cabinets Another look at my yard sale find. We went up to Walmart after lunch, and the DH was able to get a new mower for a very reasonable price, and we picked up a few more bedding plants, and we both did some yard work Saturday afternoon. I took some more pics of the yard.

	Peony bloom The peony is right by the kitchen door. It's going to have more blooms-- this is just the first. (I'm glad I took the pic when I did. The wind today just shredded it!)
	Sage in bloom Here's my sage; three years old now.
	Chives in bloom And my chives are also three years old.
	Veggies You can't see the red lettuce very well. I'm planning to harvest some of the lettuce for our salads at supper tonight!
	Rose arbor Another angle of those roses. Note also our hummingbird feeder.
	painted rocks Two most recently painted. They will go into the front flower beds along with the real thing, LOL!
	Kitchen window A couple of my yellow roses in a little bud vase, and an arrangement of sage and chive blooms-- I had to trim those out anyhow, so I put them in a vase.

Anyway, Sunday we went to church. The service was nice, and our children's director had made a video of all the children, each one telling why his or her mom was special and wishing a happy Mother's Day. We went into Stillwater for lunch-- the DH, my son and me-- and ate at Red Lobster. I had flounder-- it was delicious! And for dessert, a chocolate chip chocolate lava cookie with ice cream. There was an open air nursery set up in a parking lot near the Red Lobster, and so we picked up a few *more* bedding plants. Those have yet to be put out. They are on the front porch for now. Anyway, it was a great weekend, but it was off to work this morning! How was your weekend?

The colors could not have been more perfect! And it was marked $10-- but as soon as the lady saw me looking at it, she said "I'll take $8!" I didn't even *ask*!

But I did want to check on you...everything okay in your corner of the world? We had kind of a shakeup here, with tornadoes on the ground, and I wanted to make sure you were okay.

Well, the wind is blowing hard enough that if we still lived on the Coast they'd have put out small craft warnings, but so far no tornadic activity in Payne County. I was actually worrying a bit about YOU, since I heard an alert from Norman on the radio coming home from work!

Yeah, it was a large warm chocolate chip cookie with melted chocolate in the middle, and OMG is right-- it was soooooooo rich!

We were so full we didn't even want any supper. We finally had some leftover homemade vegetable soup along about 8:30, mostly because we knew we had to have something else before we went to bed!

I didn't take a pic of my mint-- it, too, is coming back. But it looks very scraggly still, so I am waiting until it fills out a little.

My dill, basil, thyme, and a few other herbs are still babies, and I haven't potted them out yet. But soon they will join the others just outside the kitchen door, handy for when I need a few to cook with.

And I am in amazement at the great bargain I got for that beautiful pitcher and platter! I keep staring at it when I am in the kitchen!

The ones on the arbor won't last much longer, but they will be lush while they do.

As long as I keep deadheading them, the ones at the side of the house will last several more weeks.

The roses just exploded, it seems! And now they are nearly spent, alas! But I was able to harvest some of them before they were quite past their prime, and made a batch of rosepetal vinegar, and of rosewater. I would have liked to make some rosepetal jelly, but did not have quite enough blooms for that!

Yes, we were quite shocked to get that refund check! It's been over three years since they were our cellular provider, so we'd completely forgotten about it!

And it was thoughtful of M. to pay us some more of what he owed us-- we haven't been asking him for it, as we know he is trying to save up for his own place now, so he is just paying us back as he can.

Oooo, Red Lobster is one of my favorite places. Don't get to go there often (too hard to eat out with my mom), but it's delicious!

We really enjoy Red Lobster! Olive Garden is my favorite, but the nearest one's in Tulsa-- about 50 miles from here. Stillwater's just under half that distance, so Red Lobster it was.

My favorite Red Lobster thing is their baked potatoes-- I love the way they salt the skins. Yum! Those Cheddar Bay biscuits are truly yummy, too!
