A very fun and exciting day!
Jul. 31st, 2010 10:16 pmThis weekend the DH and I decided to take a day off from chores and worry! So we decided to go into Edmond to have some fun...
Since Chrysler took away the truck, we didn't have a payment to make. We talked about some sensible things we could do, but decided instead to have some fun with the extra money.
We drove into Edmond, and I went to Hancock Fabric and picked up some notions I can't find at Walmart. Then we went to Lowes. The stuff we got there *were* some things we've been needing and putting off, but we also took the time to look at some things we just *want* to do, and get some information about some projects we want to do.
Then we had lunch at Old Chicago. This is apparently a chain, but I had never heard of it before. Lunch was delicious, and the service was *excellent*!!
Next, it was off to Barnes & Noble.
We bought a Nook! It's very much like Amazon's Kindle, but has some other features we like, including being able to "lend" your books to others who have a Nook. I asked about downloading fanfic-- which I know some of my Kindle owning friends have been able to do. The nice young man did not know (he was unfamiliar with fanfic, LOL!) but said that the Nook could do everything the Kindle does, so I suppose I will have to figure that out.
We finished up at Michael's Arts & Crafts, where I picked up a few things I've been wanting to complete a project, and then headed home.
It was nearly 8PM by the time we got home, and Sugar was most insistent that her suppertime had been missed!
I've skimmed my flist, but I don't know if I will catch up on comments!
And if anyone else on my flist has a Nook, or can give suggestions about downloading fanfic, I'd appreciate any tips!

Date: 2010-08-02 03:08 am (UTC)My word processing program is MS Office Word 2003. The more recent version I had with my new computer died after the "trial period", when we didn't pay to make it permanent. I actually use to use MS Works, and preferred that, but it doesn't work on this computer.
I will have to try that with Google tomorrow! Thanks for the idea!
