Rats! and Yay!
Oct. 30th, 2010 05:41 pmRats! I have absolutely no-one to blame but myself, but I just realized I left it too late to go to The Last Ship before it closed to save my reviews, and to re-post my non-LOTR fics elsewhere. I kept meaning to do it, and thought about it yesterday, but then I got side-tracked... (Not that they aren't elsewhere, but the Yuletide ones are *only* at Yuletide now, and the Dom RPF is only on my LJ now. It's just a few stories, but I'll want another home for them somewhere.) And I am sorry to lose the reviews. But I kept putting it off, and now it's too late. *sigh*
And--
Yay!! After several failed attempts over the years, I have *finally* learned how to do double knitting! I am still very slow at it, using continental style with my left hand, and the English style with my right hand-- but I made a successful sample swatch that was white on one side, grey on the other, and stockinette on both sides!!
Next, I am going to try to make this potholder, only in blue and yellow, to go with my kitchen.

Date: 2010-10-30 11:51 pm (UTC):-O The double knitting sounds incredibly hard to do. Congrats on learning how to do it. I looked at the pattern and the end result is so nice looking! Good luck making your potholder. :-)

Date: 2010-10-31 03:10 pm (UTC)I've tried Continental and really had trouble with it. I kept reading how it was supposed to be more relaxed for your hands, but to me, holding my thumb and index finger like that was not at all relaxed. LOL
Please post some photos when you get your pot holder finished! :-)
Hugs!

Date: 2010-10-31 03:49 pm (UTC)I've never done anything complicated with Fair Isle-- not more than two colors, anyhow. I prefer the slip-stitch method for two colors now anyway.
