House-y stuff

This week we finally got our new carpet laid. In addition to the carpet, we had tile laid by the front door to create a sort of entry, and we had the hearth of our fireplace tiled.

There are also some pics of my desk, and of a couple of new wreaths I made.

	Hearth The newly tiled hearth. Before we had the tile laid, the hearth was brick, painted a horrible pinky-beige color. I really like the color of the new carpet, a light brown, flecked with dark and medium shades of brown.
	front door entry The newly tiled area by the front door; you can see one of our china cabinets on the front porch. (Most of our furniture was on the porch that day, or the front lawn, or in the case of the piano, in the kitchen!)
	My desk, empty Here's my desk all empty.
	My desk, full My desk, accessorised with all my Tolkien books, DVDs and CDs, and my LotR knick-knacks. LotR is in its permanent home on the left side of the desk.
	Spring wreath A new spring wreath I made for the front door.
	St. Patrick's Day Wreath The new St. Patrick's Day wreath I made this year.

I love that desk, too! It came from Dedeaux Clan Furniture and they had to put it together in the room when it was delivered. It also had to be taken apart when we moved!

We have a number of pieces from them: several bookcases, a dining room table, several of their big chairs, a custom CD case, and a special cabinet my husband ordered to keep his fly-tying supplies in.

I do love my desk. And I have fun making the wreaths-- they are not especially difficult to make, and they add a festive touch to each different season and holiday!
