I'm expired, so I can't upload some pics of the furbabies. Oh well. It has to wait till payday.

I'm very proud of them, though. They were home alone while I was at work, and the house was still intact and they didn't kill each other while I was gone. They've had several go-rounds since I got home. Bell is funny. She growls and hisses and spits at Sophie, and she smacks her-- smacks her hard! But mostly without using her stickersclaws. And she doesn't like it if Sophie gets distracted while chasing her. She'll go up and smack her again to get her attention.

So far Sophie still seems to think it's all just a game.

I think I temporarily wore Sophie out-- we had a very intense game of chase the bone for a while, and now she is sleeping.

BTW: can anyone reccommend a really TOUGH squeaky toy? She LOVES them, but she tears them up quickly. We tried one brand that was supposed to be quite durable--and the first one lasted nearly two weeks, but I bought her another just like it, and she chewed through to the squeaker in just two days. Of course, then it squeaks no more.

Unfortunately, there is no toy that is truly indestructible. The best toy I've ever gotten is a marrow bone. Those things last forever. I got something made of real tire rubber... it was like a tire rubber ball on a tug of war rope (not a mini tire... that was junk) and I still have it about a year later, though any time Arthur gets it for an extended period of time, he pulls hundreds of tiny pieces off it. (See, he really wants to pick it apart, so he literally searches for the weakest spot, and starts tearing tiny piece by tiny piece away...)

Though actually, if you get a toy that doesn't have a squeaker in the middle, but its just one big squeaker, that works. We had a KONG brand (I think) ball with feet, that we called "Mr. Ball Man." Mr. Ball Man lost his feet not _too_ long after we purchased him, but he remained squeaky to the end of his days. I think he was lost in the woods somewhere.

I have friends who bought one of the KONG toys that you can put peanut butter into for their bulldog, and she chewed it open. It stayed mostly intact otherwise, though, and she loved chewing on it. Ditto the teddy bear that she pulled all the stuffing out of but still loved to carry around.

Yeah... KONG definitely aren't indestructible... but they're probably the lest destructible.

(Of course, as long as you don't mind picking up after the little bits of toy all over the house, dogs seem to enjoy the utterly destroyed toys just as much if not more than shiny new intact ones!)

True! And going back to what you mentioned about the toy itself being a squeaker, Sparky used to love squeaky balls that just squeak through a hole in the bottom. Those seem to be fairly durable, but since Sparky's only a rat terrier, I have no way of knowing whether they'd be tough enough for Sophie.

Arthur's a pretty strong labradoodle, and he doesn't usually break the balls that are squeaky, as long as they're not too terribly cheap

About pics, can you use imageshacks? It's free and quite reliable. :)

Indestructible toys? Nope! Not when Shadow gets them! Kong does seem best.

*lol* Sounds so familiar! :))) Though, when I leave my babies alone, I put them in separate rooms; each gets his sleeping basket and toys, and everything is fine. If I left them together... *shivers* I'm afraid that Hiroshima-bomb is nothing compared to what they might do. *lol*

As for the toy - sorry, no ideas from me. Especially because I don't know what can be found in your shops.

It sounds to me as if Bell is just playing. A bit rough, but playing. I'm looking forward to new pics when you can.

The longest-lasting furry squeaky toys I've found are the plush ones made by AKC.

But Pippin would rather play with these cheaper ones she can pull apart more easily!

I know nothing about dog toys, but I do know that Helo rips his cheaper-made cloth toys apart, too because he is hardcore about pretending he's actually hunting! ;D

My Pip smacks Domino that way... it's part of their play routine, and because she doesn't have her claws out, Domino knows she's playing and doesn't get overly aggressive. But when Pepper, our outdoor cat, smacks Domino, it's in all serious and claws out, and he turns into Raging Alpha Dog. I can't leave them alone together at all like I can with him and Pip.

As for toys, heh... I'm a Bad Mom because I will deliberately cut the squeaker out! I can't stand that noise, and Domino doesn't know any different.
