Dairy for the Twelfth

July 12, 2013

We woke up this morning at our usual time of 6:30, me with some lingering thoughts of an odd dream that seems to be recurring recently. I dream I am in some place with a lot of stuff, like a junk store or a flea market, but there is so much of it everywhere it's like an endless maze. I usually seem to be searching for a particular item, but never finding it.

And I don't know if this was another dream, or simply a disturbing and unwanted plot bunny: what if Merry had lost his barrow-blade on the battlefield before he and Eowyn encountered the Witch-king?

Anyway, I put it out of my mind, and got up, packed my husband's lunch and we had breakfast. I had OJ, milk and some peaches. (I usually have applesauce for breakfast, but was out), and the DH had cereal. We watched "Good Morning, America", and I was pleased to note that Robin Roberts was there today. This morning I turned it off after the DH left for work at about a quarter to eight, got dressed, and came over to the computer to check my email and my LJ flist.

Since I'd cleaned house like crazy this week for company last evening, there honestly was nothing on my to-do list today except to change the bed, do one load of laundry, and drop off our Netflix disc at the Post Office.

So I sat in my recliner for a while and let the cat hold me down while I read some fanfic on my Nook: Larner's "The King's Commission", one of my favorite long stories. About 9:30 the cat finally got down, so I went out to the backyard with the dog to water the garden.

My herbs by the back door: tarragon, boxwood basil, sage, mint, rosemary and thyme.

One of my tomato plants. Didn't do them upside down this year--the buckets broke.

Front to back: bush beans with one volunteer cabbage; pole beans and zucchini; bush cucumbers.

Onions, radishes and tomatoes. I need to touch up the paint on my bed.

Then I came back in, stripped the bed and threw a load in the washing machine, straightened the kitchen up a little.

I came back to the computer and answered some reviews and caught up on a few fics some people had posted. Then I decided it was about time for lunch: warmed up leftover spaghetti, which I ate while I watched a show I had put on the DVR: A new show on The Food Network, "Food Court Wars", which was pretty good. The episode took place in Meridian, Mississippi, which added interest.
After it was finished, I drove to the Post Office, and decided to pop in at Braum's to pick up a couple of potatoes and some chocolate milk.

Then I came home and was going to write, but I sat down first to read a little more of Larner's story, and ended up allowing the dog to hold me down for about a half hour.

I started writing after that, and was able to almost finish my next chapter of "Eleventy-one".

The DH called to say he was coming home early, and that he'd picked up a few little things at the yard sale that his workplace will be holding this weekend; one of the things was a three-foot tall purple candle with three wicks. He was quite proud of it.

Supper was baked chicken with garlic and lemon, baked potatoes (1/2 for me, a whole one for him) and salad. I made sugar-free jello with peaches and marshmallows for dessert, and to put in his lunches this week.

Took a shower, and checked my email again. It will soon be time for bed; I have to work tomorrow from 7-10AM.

Your yard is so spacious! What a lovely place.

LOL, I approve of you taking breaks while the pets hold you down. *grins*

What a yummy supper.
