Tonight my DH and I went to Pass Christian, where we had been invited to hear [livejournal.com profile] coneygoil's father and uncle sing, and have some catfish. There is a small retreat there where they hold a school for the Gospel Singers of America, and the catfish dinner was a benefit.

Nina had mentioned how great her family's catfish recipe was, and let me tell you she was not exaggerating. That was some of the best catfish I have ever eaten: all flakey and moist inside, and crunchy and flavorful on the outside, and not too spicy! Yummmm...

Then we listened to her father and uncle play and sing for a while, and her dad coaxed her up there to sing a couple of songs as well. She has a lovely voice, and I was so proud to hear how well she sang!
The DH enjoyed himself thoroughly, and as they are planning to make these fundraisers a weekly occurrence we will probably go back for more!

In other news, I got fifteen more rows knitted on the Pippin-scarf. If you are on PippinHealers, don't forget that you have to contribute to the Round Robin to get a chance at it when it's finished!!

You are knitting Pippin's scarf? I saw that pattern on line but didn't have the nerve to attempt it. I hope there will be pictures of it once you finish it before someone wins it or whatever the contest is.
I tried to get on Pippinhealers to read that one tale that I was curious about, but discovered that you have to belong in order to read. So, do the Pippinhealers post their work anywhere else or is it only on that site? I would love to read some new Pippin fiction. That's another reason why I enjoyed the Crickhollow tale that you posted. I have been looking for something new lately.

Wouldn't it be lovely to be able to read LotR again for the "first" time?*****I was thinking something like that last night. I was watching the extended version of "Fellowship" and trying to remember the first time that I'd seen it in the theater.

I will send you an email later today as I've something that I don't want to post here out in the open. LOL

I do love fish! Isn`t it fun when friends surprise you with doing something you didn`t know they do and they do it so well? :)

oo, I feel honoured, but I also joined the Virtual Village at OSA. I can have a peak and look around, but I can't promise to participate.

My dad said it was nice of yall to stay the whole time. I'm glad you had a good time. Honestly, the catfish could have been better. It was the oil my Uncle Dale used. At least the fries were good. I think I did better practicing the song, but my nervousness about being in front of people is finally easing off. I hope yall can come next time!
