You did it!! At least it must have been you, because it returned as mysteriously as it disappeared! I just hope I didn't lose anything important while it was gone! *Scratches head*
Our ISP is Cableone. I managed to get it back by doing the ultimate "no-no" As I frantically tried opening different windows in the hopes of finding someting useful, the whole screen locked up. So I did something that used to work on the old computer, but never tried on this one: I turned the power off without shutting down first. When I turned it back on, everything was back to normal.
Maybe it went to visit the fiction that I lost to my computer. Hope it returns. Computers do love to (badword) with us, don't they? You have my deepest sympathies, but sadly, that will not do a darn thing to help retrieve your missing mail.
Thank goodness, it came back. But the truth is, I don't know where it went, and I'm sure the way I got it back was the wrong thing to do. *shrugs* I really admire people who know the way computers actually work.
