I had a great weekend at the Ocean Springs Renaissance Faire. This is a small ren faire, put on by one of the churches to raise funds for a number of local charities, not one of the large "for profit" Ren Faires, so it has a much more relaxed and intimate feel about it. Here are a lot of pics:

Me, squinting before I left. The DH took my picture for me before I got in the car to leave, as I really wanted a good pic of my new hat...
...

The opening processional...
...

Our group's "kitchen". Lady E. demonstrated making mustard, and we had a bake sale...
...

A few of our group playing insstruments...
...

Our founding baron, Master F. Isn't he wonderful?
...

Two of our fighters...
...

Our madrigal singers...
...

The next two pictures are from the profesional jousters...
...

...

And two pics of me, in my Scriptorium, scribing away...
...

...

And those were from the first day.

The second day started out nasty and rainy, and the pavillion of the Scriptorium leaked, so I had to pack up my stuff. But no sooner had I done so than the weather turned pretty again...

Lady R. with her lovely greyhounds, and Baroness C.
...

Sir L. with Pharoah. Pharoah's just a baby--only 13 weeks old, and belongs to Baroness D. He's an Irish wolfhound, and will grow up to be enormous. Isn't he adorable?
...

And this is Caesar, who also belongs to her. He's a fully grown Irish wolfhound...
...

An unknown faery, who was kind enough to let me take her pic. I thought her gear was fabulous...
...

More of our folks in the kitchen...
...

The petting zoo. They had miniature ponies and goats. I could just imagine them in the Shire...
...

Our Baron T. with Caesar. See how big he is?
...

One of our fighters, Lord G. He's our Knight's Marshal, and a real sweetie!
...

The blacksmith doing his blacksmithing demo...
...

And the last three are Lord A, demonstrating making mozarella cheese. His cheese is to die for. When I wasn't snapping his pic, I was drooling over his shoulder, waiting for my chance at some of that warm, gooey goodness! It's always better when he makes it at a demo, over a wood fire--it gets a lovely smoky tang. It's not at all rubbery like the stuff you buy at the supermarket. Can you tell I like his cheese?
...

...

...

Anyway, that was my weekend, and it was loads of fun! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] danachan for uploading my pics for me, and making my bee-you-ti-ful new icon! I actually don't look awful in it!
