More hurricane stuff
Sep. 23rd, 2005 08:40 pmWell, Rita finished off what Katrina started. The holly is down again. I don't think it will be possible to get it up again, but we may give it a try, *sigh*.
And something scary in the news tonight reminded me of something that happened after the storm that I didn't post in my diary...
The news that 3,000 registered sex offenders from N.O. are scattered around the country with no way to track them down easily is creepy.
Almost as creepy as this: when my sweet Marines were cleaning up my yard, they found this funny looking device, and showed it to me. I didn't know what it was until they enlightened me.

Date: 2005-09-24 01:33 pm (UTC)Try getting the tree wired into place (use a lag bolt and washer through the tree, not a wire around it!) to keep air from under the ball of the root until it has a chance to get some new roots established. Oxygen isn't a problem (even roots need to breathe - they are living tissue!) but drying out is.
I can't give you any guarantees without seeing the actual tree, but I wanted to assure you that just falling over isn't a guarantee that the tree will die. ((((HUGS)))) and hope you remain safe.
