Your influence...

Because of you, 0 people have taken this quiz.

Sharing the quiz with your friends creates a voter education chain reaction. Seriously. Try sharing it with your friends and see how fast your influence number increases. For every person you convince to take the quiz, we'll count the chain reaction of people they tell and add them to your influence number. Come back and watch it grow by the hour.

Apparently simply saying that I believe in intelligent design means I side with Republicans on "most science" issues, as my other answers were not in line with Republican views.

A library in OKC is sponsoring a Fanfiction Contest Unlike most such contests, there's no age limit, and the only restrictions seem to be entry length (2500 words or less) and the ability to show up in person on the day the winners are announced. OKC is a little bit of a drive, but certainly close enough for me to be there if I can get a Saturday off.

I've culled through my stories for ones of appropriate length. I tried to avoid stories that relied too much on OCs or minor canon characters, or too heavily on my own special universe. I've included one poem and one drabble set, the rest are fics. So now I need some help narrowing these down to the one I'd like to enter.

[Poll #1895961]

ETA: There is one other rule: it must feature a canon character.

I mentioned that I'm on the Advent Committee for my church this year, and I am working on a devotional booklet for the season. I have yet to write my own entry for the booklet--and I am curious about how other folks get themselves into the proper spirit for the holiday.

Pardon me for a little rant here, but I am so sick of all the jewelry ads. They were bad enough at Christmas, and they're even worse at Valentine's Day! Ugh! A guy has to *prove* he loves his woman by spending a fortune on some little piece of sparkle, and then--and *only* then--will she realize how much he cares and fall into his arms! "Every kiss begins with Kay"? *shudder*

But of course, part of that may simply be that I've never cared for sparkly jewelry--I don't really care for diamonds that much--I like jewelry that has a special meaning, and it doesn't have to be costly. The problem is, my DH buys into the publicity sometimes, and I have to convince him that he doesn't have to waste our money on some bit of bling to show how much he cares. He always looks at me doubtfully, as though he thinks I'm just saying that to make him feel better!

So, anyway, a little poll here, to see how some of y'all feel about all the Valentine's Day hype!

The other day, the DH and I were in a restaurant, and I saw this woman who had a *very large* tag, hanging out the neck of her shirt. Well, if it was me, I'd want to know, so I could fix it, but the DH kept telling me to ignore it. Finally, after we finished our meal, I went to the restroom and he went to the car to wait for me, and I went back, and told her. She was, as I had hoped, not at all mad, but grateful. When I got to the car, DH said "Did you tell her?" When I said yes, he said "I knew you would."
