The DH sent me this link, a list of "It's so hot!" jokes:
http://firsttime9months.blogspot.com/2011/07/its-so-hot-and-dry-in-oklahoma.html

Some of them are too true to be funny! But this is no joke-- twice last week on the interstate to Tulsa, the DH saw trailers hauling hay that had to pull over because the hay was spontaneously combusting!

Our garden dried up and died, except for the cukes, and they're on the way out too now. I did get a bumper crop of those and need to make pickles before they go bad but I hate the thought of how hot that will make the kitchen. *sigh*

But even though the summer garden was not as productive as I'd hoped, the spring garden was really successful; hopefully summer will be better next year.

The weather's not likely to break any time soon.

The high today was 110F.

I promised to do this meme over a week ago. Now that the Big Bang is over I finally have time!

Say “Me please!” and:
- I’ll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
- Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
- Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

These are from [livejournal.com profile] ellynn_ithilwen:

1. When did you start writing fanfiction?
I posted my first story in March of 2004. I had only discovered it in November of 2003 when there was a link to a story on SoA in a Tolkien forum I frequented.
2. Who is/are your favorite writer(s)?
Conventional or fanfic? Conventional, J.R.R. Tolkien, hands down. No other author even comes a close second for me.
For fanfic I have many favorites, too many to list, but I have to say the one whose WIP updates I look forward to the most are Elanor's updates of A Secret Gate. I love her style of writing, and each new chapter is a treat.
3. Have you ever been in Europe, and if yes, where? Yes, I went to Scotland for a moot to meet fellow LJers in 2007. Did you like it? It was amazing and beautiful and a wonderful experience, although it was very trying for me physically. I don't think I had ever before understood just how much walking would be involved!
4. What countries would you like to visit (that you haven't visited before)? New Zealand, definitely. I'd also like to visit the UK.
5. Favorite food? It's hard to pinpoint "a" favorite food; I have lots, but I'd say my favorite type of food is Italian—not just spaghetti or pizza, but lots of other things as well!
