Checking in
Dec. 11th, 2007 02:28 pmI'm just making a quick post from the local internet cafe--it's at the other end of town, and has power and internet available.
We've been two days without power at the house, but we have gas for heat, cooking and hot water, so we are in no chance of freezing, and we don't need a cooler--I put all the food from the fridge out on the front porch.
Anyway, they said it could be as long as a week without power, so who knows--it's not as bad as Katrina. *shrug* But some of the trees look like they did down there--except with a coating of ice!
Thanks to everyone. I don't know when I'll be online again, though!
(((((((hugs to flist))))))

Date: 2007-12-12 02:51 am (UTC)hot food & water = good
power out = not so much
but hey! i've been in internet exile (from home) before (though not without power), so I figure to use as much daylight as possible and curl up with a good book or three. I don't wish for it to happen like that here, but having the time to do that sounds loverly.
Okay, that really had nothing to do with your post (as far as I know), but here's hoping the power people get you back online sooner rather than later. *hugs* I'd share some of our warm weather, but I'm enjoying it WAY too much... ;-)

Date: 2007-12-12 05:50 pm (UTC)Did you hear about all the help coming from electric companies around the country? Hopefully, you'll be one of the lucky ones who gets their power back on quickly. I'll be praying for you up there.
