I keep seeing hints that LJ is making major changes in our flists. So what's that about? I can't seem to find anything out about it.

I know I have several friends on the East Coast. I hope all of you will hunker down or bug out as called for, and I pray you will all stay safe.

A hurricane is not something to trifle with. I speak from personal experience.

*sends (((hugs))) to you all*

It was very gratifying to learn that I made [livejournal.com profile] slightlytookish and [livejournal.com profile] maniac1's days. But what was I supposed to do? How could I pick only 10 out of all of you lovely people? I had to laugh at [livejournal.com profile] grey_wonderer's solution! But then I read [livejournal.com profile] claudia603's version, and thought "Aha!" I adapted it just a little bit, to fit me--but this is for all of you, who every day, make my day:

1. You are posting, whether it's your grocery list, fannish squeeing about anything you're passionate about, or posting a story or artwork.

2. You come chat with me on my posts, even if just to say hi or add a hug or two.

3. You read any of my stories and leave fb, but especially if years or months later you remember something I've written and mention it or rec it or reminisce about it.

4. You engage me in delightful email dialogues about passionate things and I know that even if we don't always agree, we're passionate about it and learn from each other.

5. You take the time to leave profoundly sweet and/or wise and/or encouraging words of advice when I'm having a rough time.

6. You allow me to cuddle and hug you when you're having a rough time.

7. You link to books, movies, websites that I might not have seen/discovered otherwise.

8. You tolerate my obsession with hobbits and the Shire and LotR--even if you’ve moved on to other interests and other fandoms. And if you haven’t moved on, and you still share that obsession with the One True Fandom, you are beyond priceless!

9. You open my mind to different countries, cultures, places I might never get to go but I can see in your posts and pictures.

10. You're you, you're you, you're you!

((((((((massive hugs)))))))))))

Hi everybody!

I had a very interesting birthday; it was, well, not quiet--since I had roofers walking overhead and hammering and dogs barking. But it was fun and productive anyway. I got to do some sewing and write hobbits, which is always fun.

Because of his work schedule and payday, the DH and I are planning to celebrate this weekend, so it’s going to be like having *two* birthdays!

And all day, I kept finding lovely good wishes and virtual goodies from all you wonderful people on my flist. So, here are my thanks, and I hope I didn’t miss anyone:

First of all, there was this adorable e-card from [livejournal.com profile] elandulin. And there were virtual gifts from [livejournal.com profile] pearltook1, [livejournal.com profile] rhapsody11 and [livejournal.com profile] neilia, as well as very nice phone call from [livejournal.com profile] danae_b. [livejournal.com profile] pearltook1 also posted a very sweet story about Pippin and Merry.

Cards were posted for me by [livejournal.com profile] lilybaggins, who posted a gorgeous Ent-card, [livejournal.com profile] baranduin who posted an incredible one of Gandalf! and [livejournal.com profile] obeliamedusa who sent me to Bilbo’s party!

I had picspam from [livejournal.com profile] shirebound , [livejournal.com profile] mews1045 and [livejournal.com profile] slightlytookish.

And there were greetings from [livejournal.com profile] maniac1 , [livejournal.com profile] i_o_r_h_a_e_l , [livejournal.com profile] surgicalsteel, [livejournal.com profile] lbilover , [livejournal.com profile] mumstheword54 , [livejournal.com profile] claudia603, [livejournal.com profile] lily_the_hobbit , [livejournal.com profile] blueniverse , [livejournal.com profile] gentlehobbit, [livejournal.com profile] pegkerr , [livejournal.com profile] songspinner9 , [livejournal.com profile] marigoldg , [livejournal.com profile] llinos , [livejournal.com profile] lonewolf1 , [livejournal.com profile] knittedmerry and [livejournal.com profile] knittedpippin and [livejournal.com profile] sila_lumenn.

Also, I got a book in the mail from [livejournal.com profile] auntiemeesh, Wicked” by Gregory Maguire, which I’ve been wanting to read for a very long time.

Anyway, a big hug of Thanks! to all of my flist!!!

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] surgicalsteel and a few others on my flist...

Comment on this post and I will:

1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.

ESPECIALLY if you normally skim over me...

I really am a chicken. I have never really made any kind of serious effort to trim my flist since I got my LJ. I'm afraid I will offend someone, or even worse, hurt someone's feelings. I'm afraid I will accidentally delete someone that I didn't mean to. And quite honestly it seems like an overwhelming task.

So, here's the deal: this is an invitation to *unfriend* me. If you rarely, if ever, read my posts, if you never comment on them, if I never comment on you, if you've lost interest because you've moved on to another fandom, and don't care much about hobbits anymore, or well, whatever--unfriend me!

Then, see, I can go in and unfriend the ones who unfriended me.

Also, if you still want to keep me, but you know of someone else on my flist who never posts anymore, because they've abandoned LJ, let me know, and I can unfriend them without feeling any guilt. Or if I have you friended at more than one journal, let me know which one you want me to keep, and I'll unfriend the others.

*makes puppy dog eyes* Help me out here.

I won't be hurt or offended if you take me up on this--I will be relieved.

And if you are someone I like to read about anyway, well, I'll just keep you without you being obligated to do the same.

Okay, here's another meme, taken from several people on my flist:

Leave a list of fictional characters in your journal that you would love to get a message from. It is your friend-list's mission, should they choose to accept it, to write you an in-character note from a character on that list.

1. Bilbo Baggins
2. Gandalf
3. Frodo Baggins
4. Merry Brandybuck
5. Pippin Took
6. Sam Gamgee
7. Strider
8. Rose Cotton Gamgee
9. Fredegar Bolger
10. Lobelia Sackville-Baggins
