Dreamflower's Mathom-house

the_arc5 was over yesterday afternoon, and we had a great visit, talking about fic and hobbits. She brought me a bunch of yarn and knitting supplies she doesn't have room for, so I will find a home for all of it.

We had stuffed potatoes, sort-of chicken cordon bleu (an easier version I made up), and salad and then since she had never seen it, I introduced her to Beauty and the Beast. (The 80s TV show, not the Disney movie.)

Alas, she had to leave before it got dark as she had a long drive home! But we had a blast, and it was so good to see her!

The DH took last weekend off-- with his schedule, one weekend off gives him basically a two week vacation, so we enjoyed some time together and took some day-trips and put up our Halloween decorations, and I got dreadfully behind on my writing. I'm definitely going to be late with my October challenge story!

The DH drove me to Edmond today so I could meet up with ramblin_rosie! We had a lovely mini-moot, and talked about fic and crossovers and LotR and had chocolate cupcakes at Barnes & Noble! After we dropped her off at her seminar,the Southwest Regional Conference on Christianity and Literature where she was presenting a paper on fanfiction, (in which she quoted me and the_arc5 among many others) the DH and I found a nice park and had a picnic. Although we entertained numerous unwanted guests in the form of a swarm of flies, it was still fun. We drove home down Route 66, which is always fun.

He had two promising phone interviews today as well. *crossing fingers*

And then after supper, ceshaughnessy and I revealed the stories for lotr_community's Remix Challenge!

I was so happy to finally post the story I wrote based on blslarner's lovely "Unbelief", while I recieved an utterly incredibly perfect story from labourslamp AKA Celeritas! It's a gapfiller for my "It Takes a Took" and I just love it to pieces!

the_arc5 has been here all day and we've had a blast talkin about fic and hobbits and hobbits and fic! We had pasta and salad for lunch and black-eyed peas for supper. And the_arc5 has a new friend!

the_arc5 came over again today, this time to pick up her Hogwarts robe that I made her, for the premiere this week.

We had a great time talking about hobbits and fic, and showed one another some WIP. She brought me a belated birthday gift, a very pretty silver unicorn pendant. We ate supper in the living room, because the table has all kinds of stuff on it because of the painting. We had baked rottini pasta, garlic bread and salad.

the_arc5 was here all afternoon! We had a blast talking fandom and fic and hobbits. I did a fitting for her Hogwarts robe that I'm making her-- it's coming along nicely.

The DH grilled buffalo steaks and potatoes, and I made two kinds of salad and rye bread to go with everything, and fresh peach crisp for dessert (served with ice cream). She had to leave shortly after supper, since she has to work tomorrow.

Her visits are always such fun!

Yesterday, the_arc5 came over at lunchtime, and stayed for dinner, and for quite some time after.

What did we find to talk about all that time?

Would it come to a surprise to anyone else on my flist that we both ♥ hobbits?

We had mushroom pie, and salad, and peach cobbler with ice cream for lunch, and we had tortellini and salad for supper.

And we talked about hobbits the whole time, and when she left, we still had not exhausted the subject!

*grin*

I can't wait to do it again sometime!

So, as I said, the_arc5 and I met up yesterday for a mini-moot. We decided to meet at Pop's. It's a really cool place--I took danae_b there for lunch when she visited. But more importantly, it's about halfway between where *I* live and where the_arc5 lives, and plus since it has a 20-foot tall neon pop bottle in front and is right on Route 66, it's very easy to find, and hard to miss! LOL!

I got there a little early, and while I waited for her I drabbled a little in my notebook, and ordered a drink--diet coke with a shot of white chocolate! Then she arrived, and we hit it off right away.

We started right off talking about hobbits and LotR. And for four and a half hours, with occasional interruptions by the waitress and to take a bite of our burgers, we talked about hobbits, the One Ring, hobbits, Doctor Who, hobbits, Harry Potter, hobbits, fanfic, hobbits and hobbits and hobbits!

I called the DH when I realized it was 10 minutes to 5, and I was unlikely to get home before he did, and he laughed and said he expected as much, since he'd seen my car in the parking lot on his way home! Anyway, we had to break things up and get going.

It was so much fun! And I'd put supper in the crock pot before I left, (ham, green beans and new potatoes) and I'd done a thorough house cleaning the day before, so my day of self-indulgent fun was completely guilt-free!

I do have to go to the grocery store today, and catch up a bit of laundry, but then we are ready for the weekend! And the DH's paycheck was more than we expected--so that's a good thing, too!

I'm so excited! Today, I get the chance to meet a new friend! the_arc5 and I are meeting for lunch, and to talk hobbits!!!!!
