Our church had an old-fashioned ice cream social and hymn sing tonight to welcome our new pastor. She seems very nice, and I have liked both of her sermons that I've heard so far (This was her second Sunday). She has a much quieter style than our previous pastor, whom I also liked very much.

We sang a lot of old hymns, including some I had not sung in quite a while. This one was a favorite of one of my college roommates-- hearing her singing it in our dorm room with her guitar was the first time I ever heard it. Anyway, I found several versions of it on YouTube, but this one I thought was the nicest-- these kids sing beautifully!

Hey, LJ! I do not like the new scrapbook!

I thought at first I would-- it's much faster uploading. But you seem to have take away the whole purpose of it-- before, I could arrange the pictures and captions right there at the scrapbook, and the pictures would be sized properly for an LJ entry. The whole entry would be ready to go.

Unless I am missing something it won't do any of that anymore. I just get a pageful of gigantic pictures with no captions at all. Bummer!

Guess what? My muse is not content with my juggling four WIPs, it has decided to add a fifth one, and a very ambitious one at that, into the mix!

I am tackling a "biography" of Bilbo!

For one-hundred-and-eleven years, Bilbo Baggins dwelt in Bag End, in Hobbiton of the Shire, save for a brief journey into the Wide World. This is his story.

Eleventy-one Years: Too Short a Time, Book One, The First Fifty Years at Many Paths to Tread
Eleventy-one Years: Too Short a Time, Book One, The First Fifty Years at Stories of Arda

I hope that I will be able to keep up with all of it. I am several chapters ahead on "Ancestress" now, a couple of chapters ahead on "In the Court of the High King" and "Cado's Year", and I had three ready of this one before I started. "The Prisoner and the Hobbit" of course, will await the pleasure of [livejournal.com profile] pandemonium_213's Dark Muse.

I am so excited!

Remember a few months ago, I began collecting links to fanfics about The Hobbit?

Well, I now have a website: Off Into the Blue for Mad Adventures!

There are links to every fanfic for TH posted before the end of 2011 that I could find, from as many sources as I could collect! Please check it out and let me know what you think!

I haven't even read a lot of these stories myself, and am looking forward to browsing through them!

At long last, an update! In Chapter 7, Mistress Poppy and Viola continue their tour of the Houses of Healing and Clodio recalls just how he got sucked into Lotho's schemes...

I have mentioned from time to time that my favorite news personality-- actually my favorite celebrity-- is Robin Roberts of Good Morning America. She is a sweet, warm and genuine person, and my husband and I have followed her career since she was a junior sports reporter at WLOX in Biloxi, MS.

A few years ago, she successfully beat breast cancer. But today she made this announcement! *sigh*

I so hope that she does beat the odds this time around-- I'll be keeping her in my prayers!

Tonight the DH and I went in to Stillwater. We went to a free outdoor concert by the Stillwater Community Band:

It was great fun! We had time to go in the library and check out a few books before the concert. I took my knitting, and we enjoyed the music. They played medleys from "The Wizard of Oz" and from "The Music Man" as well as a number of other less well-known pieces. I will probably have "76 Trombones" stuck in my head for days.

They will be doing it every Thursday evening in June. I can't go next week-- we are having a meeting of our new writer's group. But definitely the week after, weather permitting!
