There was some coverage of the voting in OKC, as a reporter interviewed people at one of the local polling precincts. She stopped one lady (she looked like maybe in her mid-60s).

This lady said she did not know how to read and write, but with help, she had voted for the first time in her life! She said it was too important to vote this time to be proud.

Poor Polymer!Frodo, I knew him well. I returned from my knitting circle tonight to discover he was assassinated. It appears to have been a conspiracy. Miss Belladonna Took threw him from his high place upon my desk and then, to make certain he was dead, Miss Sophie ate most of his head, leaving only a few dark curls as evidence...

I thought I had a picture of him, but cannot find it. However, he is the default icon for lotr_crafts if you want to see what he once looked like.

*sigh*

This is the first chance I got to upload our Halloween pics. I thought I'd try crossposting them from DW, and see how it works. I am having to use Rich Text, because I can't remember the DW code for a cut; also the pics are very big. Sorry!

I keep seeing hints that LJ is making major changes in our flists. So what's that about? I can't seem to find anything out about it.

In 2006 I began posting a silly little crack!fic at wee_hobbits. I posted two parts and then got stuck. Well, the other day I got unstuck, and finished it for shirebound's gift folder. Here is Part 3; there is one more part and a short epilogue to go. I included links to Parts 1 and 2, since after six years, it's not likely anyone actually remembers it...

Dearest shirebound, knowing that you will be having your surgery in a few days, a few of your friends have made a special folder for you. It contains many of your very favorite stories, as well as hopefully some new ones as well. There are also some pictures to cheer you up as well! Several of your friends contributed, and there may well be other contributions before it's all over!

All of the stories are in an easy to print out PDF format, or you can upload them if you prefer. But we thought if you could easily print them out it would help to pass the time as you recover!




You can find the folder at Stories and Stuff for Shirebound" on Dropbox, and I have sent you an invitation to it as well, to make it easier to get to. We hope this give you a few days time to print out the ones you want to read first!

One silver lining from our current situation is that the DH has been available to come to church with me for a few weekends. Today we decided to go out to lunch after the service, and ended up at the local steakhouse.

As I was getting out of the car I heard a voice say: "Dreamflower?"

I immediately turned and responded (I always suspected I would answer to that name if anyone ever called me by it in person, and I was right, even though this was the first time it came up in RL, LOL!)

She recognized me by the decal on the back of my car ("The Road goes ever on and on..."). It was a lady I had met about three or four years back, at a social gathering put on by our (at the time) pastor's wife. We had clicked--she was a huge LotR fan--and I kind of turned her on to fanfic. She has actually left me a few reviews at SoA, but I've never seen her in person since then. We chatted for a few minutes in the parking lot, and she revealed that she is still following several of my stories (I did have another review from her about two months ago or so) as well as those of a couple of other SoA authors she mentioned. We spoke again as we were leaving the restaurant, and it made me grin so hard!

Anyway, I hope to get a bit of writing in this afternoon, and maybe we will start putting up our Hallowe'en decorations!

Now that I've tended to everyone else's wins, I can turn to my own, and show off my spiffy banners made by Ellyn and Nath!
